Red Bull Theater’s Sardanapalus & Global Watch Party Review

By Megan Scott

The University of St. Thomas’ Graduate English Program hosted a watch party of a dramatic reading of Lord Byron’s Sardanapalus on Tuesday, October 29th to great success. With refreshments befitting Byon and his extravagant Assyrian monarch, over twenty students listened attentively to the performance. At the play’s conclusion, students remarked on the skill of the voice actors, particularly, the actors who played Salemenes, Myrrha, and Sardanapalus. The live reading brought Byron’s work to life; several students commented that hearing the play performed deepened their love and appreciation of Byron’s work.
