Teaching “Frankenstein” at the Flying University for Ukrainian Students
In this essay, Professor Deidre Lynch shares her experience teaching Frankenstein to Ukrainian undergraduates at the Flying University of Ukrainian Students as a volunteer this summer. Entitled “Frankenstein and the Rights of Monsters”, the course explores the novel’s lingering hold on public imagination, as well as the urgent questions it raises about today’s crises. The Flying University for Ukrainian Students is part of the "Freedom Starts with Your Mind" project, which aims to assist students whose lives have been disrupted by the war through a program of online courses in the humanities and social sciences.
