New Communications Team 2024

K-SAA is pleased to announce the new communications team. Led by Kaila Rose, Director of Communications and Operations, the new team will use the blog and social media to share exciting projects, writing, and opportunities related to the organization’s mission “to enrich the study of and appreciation for the works of Keats, the Shelleys, and their contemporaries by cultivating a diverse community of artists, readers, scholars, students, teachers, and other audiences through inclusive scholarship and accessible public programming.” Read all about them below.

Dr. Kacie L. Wills is Assistant Professor of English at Allan Hancock College. She is the recipient of research grants from both the K-SAA and the Huntington Library and is co-editor of the book, Women and the Art and Science of Collecting in Eighteenth-Century Europe (Routledge 2020). She is the co-creator of the website sarahsophiabanks.com and is the co-editor of the forthcoming KSJ+ special issue on Commonplacing and Commonplace Books. Her recent publications include essays in English Studies, Romanticism on the Net, The Romantic Spirit in the Works of J.R.R. Tolkien, and The Edinburgh Companion to Romanticism and the Arts.

Emma Watkins (she/they) is a 2023 Mount Holyoke College graduate and works as a museum educator, copy editor, and barista in Oklahoma City. She was a research assistant for the Museum of Literature Ireland’s Mapping Gothic Dublin online exhibition, and worked with the previous K-SAA communications team to reformat past blog posts after the website redesign. Working under Kate Singer and Omar F. Miranda, Emma copy-edited Percy Shelley for Our Times, which cemented her desire to continue her studies in Romanticism. Emma is interested in studying dreams and visions in Romantic-era writings, especially as they relate to social critique and the use of dream-logic to imagine alternative realities or futures. They look forward to sharing the work of the K-SAA with people in and outside of the classroom!

Kaila Rose is the Outreach Coordinator for the Byron Society of America and the Communications Officer for the International Association of Byron Societies. With over a decade of immersion in the Byron world, Kaila has amplified outreach efforts through diverse multimedia platforms and worked to expand the societies' reach by fostering inclusivity within membership and partnerships across the academic community. With creative initiatives and unwavering dedication, Kaila hopes to enrich the global dialogue surrounding Byron's enduring influence on literature and culture.
